In Stout’s art, serious themes with a jolly, retro feeling

Fredric Koeppel, writing special for The Commercial Appeal, recently reviewed “Into a Bridless Cloud” for the newspaper.

As to the style and substance of the exhibition, Stout mines the same rich fields of his buoyant satire and critique of most of our contemporary conflicts and confusions, distilled to apocalyptic explosions of ecological, political and cultural disasters, all depicted in riotous candy-coated Day-Glo hues. He also exploits a structural device that never seems to grow stale because of the variations he works on it.  —Read more here.
